摘要 | The effects of methanogenic archaea (MA) on the corrosion process of E690 steel in seawater were studied. Weight loss measurements and electrochemical analysis showed that the corrosion of E690 steel in seawater with MA was promoted when acetate was the energy source. In particular, on the 30th day, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed that the presence of MA enhances the charge transfer process. The potentiodynamic polarization curves showed that both anodic and cathodic processes of E690 steel are accelerated in the MA medium. An MA biofilm adhered heterogeneously to the E690 steel surface, resulting in pitting corrosion as the main corrosion form. The depth and diameter of one typical pit were approximately 48 mu m and 247 mu m, respectively, after 30 days of exposure to the MA medium. FeCO3, Fe2CO3(OH)(2), Fe3O4, and Fe2O3 were the main corrosion products in the film in both the abiotic and MA media. A corrosion mechanism model was proposed for E690 steel in seawater containing MA. |
