Fabrication of an environment-friendly epoxy coating with flexible superhydrophobicity and anti-corrosion performance

摘要In this work, a superhydrophobic coating was developed by modifying pure epoxy resin with prepared sepiolite powder. The wettability, morphology, and composition of the superhydrophobic coating were characterized by contact angle measurement (CA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The corrosion behavior of the coatings was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), salt-spray test, and Scanning Kelvin Probe (SKP). The results showed that the composite coating had better corrosion performance than pure epoxy resin (EP) coating, and the composite coating showed super-hydrophobicity with a contact angle of 154.6 degrees and a sliding angle of 3 degrees after sprayed with 5 wt% modified powder. The corrosion region of the damaged coating could be obviously restricted and the corrosive rate of the substrate was delayed and confirmed by SKP technology. The complete coating morphology was more conducive to enhancing the corrosion resistance of the sample.
